The term “religious liberty” encompasses a wide variety of issues. There are things that need to be known, a Constitution that needs protection, lives that need to be saved, voices that need to be heard.
But to be able to appreciate “what” needs to be known, protected, saved, and heard, you need to know what “it” is. Freedom to worship? Freedom to speak? Freedom to love? Freedom to care? Freedom to be who you were meant to be?
At ReligiousLiberty.TV, we are committed to celebrating your liberty of conscience. That means you are welcome, regardless of your faith, or what you believe. In fact, you may not have a faith at all. Some faiths may be mutually exclusive – you may believe things that aren’t consistent with what somebody else believes. But you have the freedom to believe, and we are here to preserve and celebrate that freedom.
Some people think that in order to really promote religious freedom, you should keep faith out of the discussion. They seem to think that what a Muslim or a Christian or a Hindu or a Jew or a Buddhist or an athiest or agnostic believes should not be placed on the table because it might offend others. But that dismisses the essence of religious freedom and denies your faith. That is why you will read things from a variety of perspectives on ReligiousLiberty.TV that do not deny faith, but rather embrace it.
We tend to favor separation of church and state, but not separation of your faith from the rest of your life. Taking away faith altogether is just as harmful as imposing a certain brand of belief. Your conscience is yours, and you have the freedom to peacefully practice your faith.
That means, sometimes you will read things here that express things that you may disagree with. And there will things that you will agree with. If you do not feel that your side of the story is being represented, speak out and let your voice be heard.
We don’t deal with easy issues – any discussion of faith and politics is bound to be controversial. We know that, and have chosen to embrace these challenges rather than deny them. A popular comedian once said that in America we celebrate diversity, but are afraid to mention what is different. ReligiousLiberty.TV exists to mention what is different and to find ways to respect those differences. While we each hold strongly to our beliefs, we want preserve religious liberty so you can hold strongly to your beliefs too.
And when it comes to religious freedom, learn it, know it, protect it, save it, and speak it. Celebrate it.
I enjoyed reading this article. Most faiths embrace helping others, so why shouldn’t we come together and do a great work instead of throwing stones at one another. I liked the concept of coming together to help the world, not as one religion, but embracing each others beliefs.
