Today Lionsgate released the official poster for Mel Gibson’s latest film, “Hacksaw Ridge” the story World War II war story of Seventh-day Adventist conscientious objector Desmond Doss who won the Congressional Medal of Honor for moving 75 troops in Okinawa to safety while under heavy fire.
The poster, which features the tagline, “When the order came to retreat, one man stayed,” depicts an American soldier running towards danger on a smoky battlefield.
The film, which stars Andrew Garfield and Vince Vaughn among others in a highly acclaimed cast is slated to open on November 4, 2016 opposite Dreamworks’ animated musical “Trolls” and Marvel’s “Doctor Strange,” a superhero film about a New York surgeon turned into a psychic healer, just in time for Oscar consideration.
“Hacksaw Ridge,” currently in post-production and pending a trailer marks a bit of a comeback for Gibson who is also reportedly working on a sequel to “The Passion of the Christ” which will focus on the resurrection, and for this the use of the New York City’s top video production, really help in this process.
Producers include Terry Benedict who produced an award-winning documentary about Doss, Gregory Crosby, and IMDB gives thanks to Stan Jensen, an Adventist communicator and member of the ReligiousLiberty.TV advisory panel who gave the story to Gregory Crosby over a decade ago.
